LOCAL INFORMATION
Assos Village
Assos is made up of two parts - 'Pano' (or upper) Assos and 'Kato' (or lower) Assos. Kato Assos where the villa is located, lies next to the sea. It is approximately 20 minutes walk from the villa to the main road in Pano Assos. The tiny roads linking Pano Assos to Kato Assos are lined with graceful villas, vineyards and orchards producing apricots, oranges and lemons. Affluent Athenians tend to build their holiday homes here.

The old national road between Athens and Patras runs through Pano Assos and as such there are several shops, two large supermarkets, a great cake shop called Kamenitsas and a couple of tavernas here. Should you decide not to hire a car, you can catch buses to Corinth, Athens and other nearby places from Pano Assos. Pano Assos is a rural farming community and if you have time, we would recommend you stroll from the villa up to Pano Assos one evening as it is a lovely walk.
Beaches and Swimming

Swimming could not be easier. As you can see from the photographs, the villa is directly next to the sea. The water is clean and there is a small beach immediately outside the house. During the summer months, the taverna next door puts sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach which you can use for free as long as you buy a drink.

There is also a bigger beach about 200 metres up the road with more sun loungers and a beach bar. All the beaches along this stretch of coast are a mix of sand and pebbles. In Assos the sea bed is sandy and the depth of the water increases gradually, making it excellent swimming for children.

Eating Out & Nightlife
This stretch of coastline has yet to be discovered by foreign tourists and as such, local nightlife revolves around the local tavernas. Several of these are within an easy walk of the villa. Meals are reasonably priced and locals are helpful and friendly. In the town of Vrahati, (a delightful 30 minute walk/5 minute drive down the small coast road) there are numerous restaurants and tavernas and several bars and cafes. If you want a more lively night out, there are also a number of nightclubs and beach bars in Vrahati which crank out both Greek and English tunes - though these don’t really get going until around midnight.

Shopping/Food

Most everyday items can be bought at the local mini-market down the coast towards Vrachati. Turn left at the seafront and it is about 15 minutes’ walk from the villa. They are open all day, every day from around 7am to 11pm with the exception of Christmas day and Easter Sunday. In Pano Assos there several large supermarkets. Also, if you turn right on the main road at the top of the village you will come to a Lidl supermarket.

A recent development is a large American-style shopping mall on the old national road on the way to Korinthos. There you will find the largest and swankiest of the local supermarkets ‘Sklavenitis.’ There is also a Nike outlet store, an H&M, various restaurants and ice cream stalls on this site.
